Biography

Sergeant Major Taylor enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 2001 and completed recruit training with Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.

Upon completion of recruit training, he attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina, then reported to MOS training at Marine Corps Communications-Electronics School (MCCES) in 2001. In 2002, he received orders to the Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 18 (MTACS-18) MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan.

In December 2003, he reported to Marine Security Guard School in Quantico, Virginia. As a Marine security guard, he was assigned for duty at the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; Moscow, Russia; Helsinki, Finland; and Tokyo, Japan. In 2006, he became a signals intelligence analyst/operator and reported to 3d Radio Battalion, Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. During his assignment, he completed two deployments in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM-PHILIPPINES.

In 2009, he reported to Marine Corps Cryptologic Support Battalion, Bravo Company in Fort Meade, Maryland, to begin his cryptologic intern assignment with the NSA’s Military Intern Signals Intelligence Analyst Program. During this assignment, he completed a deployment in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM-AFGHANISTAN (OEF-A).

In December 2012, he reported to 1st Radio Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California. He deployed to Afghanistan from November 2013 to November 2014 in support of OEF-A. After returning from Afghanistan in December 2015, he was assigned to serve as the company first sergeant for Headquarters Company, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, Quantico, Virginia.

In May 2018, he was assigned to serve as the company first sergeant for Delta Company, Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-East, Camp Geiger, North Carolina.

In May 2019, Sergeant Major Taylor was assigned as the squadron sergeant major for Marine Attack Squadron 223, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina.

In November 2020, Sergeant Major Taylor was assigned as the squadron sergeant major for Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina.

In September 2022, Sergeant Major Taylor was assigned as the director of the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Sergeant Major Taylor's personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (fourth award), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (third award), and the Army Achievement Medal.
